“I’m at peace because” Arsenal new man discusses leaving his former club

Cristhian Mosquera made the switch from Valencia to Arsenal during the summer transfer window, a move that has left Los Che dissatisfied with the outcome. The young defender rose through the ranks at the Spanish club, establishing himself as one of their most valuable assets, and his departure was not part of their long-term plans.

Talks between Valencia and Mosquera were held in June, as the player was entering the final year of his contract. The club had intended to secure his future and maintain his presence in the squad. However, once Arsenal showed interest, the dynamics changed. The defender reportedly became eager to seize the opportunity to join the Premier League side, and his focus shifted towards making the move to London.

The Contract Situation

Valencia initially delayed presenting Mosquera with a new contract, which proved to be a pivotal moment in the saga. Once they became aware of his desire to move to Arsenal, they did present a formal offer. Nevertheless, Mosquera rejected it, having already set his mind on a transfer to the Emirates Stadium. His decision was clear, and despite efforts from his former club, he ultimately finalised the move to Arsenal.

This outcome has not been warmly received in Valencia. The sense remains that the club lost a homegrown talent under circumstances that could have been different. Still, Mosquera has made it clear that he holds no animosity towards his former side and has expressed gratitude for his development there.

Mosquera’s Reflections

Speaking to Cadenaser, Mosquera stated, “I’ll never speak ill of Valencia because I am a Valencia fan, and it is a club that has given me everything. I would have liked it to have been a little different, but sometimes in football you have to look out for yourself, and there will be some who understand that and others who don’t. I’m at peace because whenever I wore the Valencia shirt, I gave it my all.”

His remarks underline a sense of loyalty to the club that nurtured him, even if his career path has now taken him elsewhere. The move to Arsenal represents an opportunity too significant to overlook, and for Mosquera, it marks the next stage of his professional journey. While Valencia may lament his departure, the defender remains confident in his decision and assured that he gave everything during his time in Spain.
