William Saliba has become the latest player to commit his future to Arsenal by agreeing a new five-year contract.

Saliba has entered the final two years of his deal but he has ended any speculation over his future, in what is a major boost for Arsenal.

The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Europe and follows Gabriel in agreeing a new long-term deal at Emirates Stadium.

Real Madrid have been strongly linked with a move for Saliba but the France defender has made it clear he is happy at Arsenal.

New Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has quickly moved to tie Saliba down and end the possibility of Real Madrid making a long-term play for him.

Saliba has become a key player for an Arsenal side with the best defensive record in the Premier League in the previous two seasons.

He made 51 appearances for Arsenal last season and his partnership with Gabriel looks set to be crucial to their chances of winning silverware under Mikel Arteta.

Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 before spending two seasons on loan back in Ligue 1 with Nice and Marseille.

Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have also signed new contracts at Arsenal in recent months.

Arsenal also want to tie Bukayo Saka down to a new deal. He has entered the final two years of his contract.
