In a recent interview, Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol claimed that Manchester City are leading the race for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo. Solhekol said,

“At the moment, the favourites to sign Semenyo are Manchester City and Manchester United.

“You would think most players would choose to go to City because you would work with Pep [Guardiola] and you’d be playing in the Champions League. But, I think it’s a tough decision for him because he knows Manchester United want him as well.

“The really interesting things is what do Liverpool do? At the moment, they are not one of the favourites, but they have done the ground work to sign him before. We know they admire him a lot and we know they have form for coming in late for a player.”

Semenyo’s Impressive Form In English Football

Semenyo has enjoyed a good run of form at the English club after he produced a string of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 25-year-old has scored eight goals and earned three assists in 17 matches for the Cherries this season in various competitions.

The Ghanaian sensation has proven himself to be a decent contributor in the final third by averaging 2.25 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has kept 52.8% of his attempts on target. However, Semenyo needs to improve his ball distribution after completing 70.3% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Semenyo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create some inviting chances for others around him in and around the opponent’s penalty area.

The Ghana international is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if told to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the Mancunian club.

Semenyo would bring more firepower to Man City boss Pep Guardiola’s frontline. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years.
