Manchester City managed to make quite a few marquee acquisitions in the recently concluded transfer window. The Mancunian side managed to recruit James Trafford, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Sverre Nypan this summer.

However, the lack of offensive signings could see them left frustrated in this Premier League campaign.

Manchester City’s Summer Arrivals

James Trafford

Trafford arrived from Burnley for €31.20m earlier this summer. He made a tough start to his Man City career but put in a solid performance in the 2-1 loss at Brighton and Hove Albion recently.

However, following Donnarumma’s arrival, Trafford would struggle to earn regular first-team action at the Mancunian club this season.

Tijjani Reijnders

Reijnders earned a move to Man City from AC Milan in a €55m deal in this transfer period. He managed to impress on his Premier League debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, the Dutch talent has since struggled to fill the big shoes left by Kevin de Bruyne at the Mancunian club.

Rayan Cherki

Cherki arrived from Lyon for €36.50m and managed to score a goal off the bench against Wolves in the Premier League season opener. If he can find some consistency in the final third, Guardiola could get the best out of him at the Etihad Stadium this season.

Gianluigi Donnarumma

The Italian keeper signed for Man City on deadline day in a €30m deal. Donnarumma is expected to be Guardiola’s number one choice for the goalkeeping position this season. However, he will have a real fight on his hands going up against Trafford in the race to earn regular first-team football at the Etihad.

Rayan Ait-Nouri

Man City secured Ait-Nouri’s services for €36.80m. He is expected to play regularly for the Mancunian outfit this season. However, there are some concerns over whether the Algerian talent can be a consistent performer for them over the next ten months.

Sverre Nypan

Man City signed Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg for €15m. He will be a signing to watch out for in the future.

Has Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Done Enough In This Transfer Market?

Guardiola would be happy with the signings he has made this summer. However, the lack of depth in attack could come back to haunt Man City if they manage to stay in the Premier League title race this season.
