Al Ahli have reopened talks with Franck Kessié over a new contract after his deal expired, according to L'Équipe. The Ivorian midfielder remains in contact with the hierarchy about signing fresh terms.

Kessié left Barcelona in 2023 to join Al Ahli, where he has made 119 appearances. Following the end of his contract in Saudi Arabia, he began exploring a new project.

An extension had appeared unlikely, but discussions have restarted and the idea is not universally backed within the club.

On one July, Al Ahli posted a farewell message to the player on social media.

There is no agreement at this stage, and Al Ahli are assessing other options for his position. Even so, there is now a possibility the Ivory Coast international, capped 107 times, stays on.
