Valencia have finalised the signing of Arnau Martínez in the last week of the transfer window, adding the defensive profile Carlos Corberán wanted. The deal was confirmed on Wednesday, making the 23-year-old the sixth arrival after De Haas, Dieng, Sato, Maffeo and Van Oevelen.
According to Superdeporte, he underwent his medical this morning and immediately trained with the squad.
He was later presented in the Mestalla VIP suite, where he posed with his new shirt bearing number 22 after being introduced to the dressing room.
Martínez said the club’s aim is always to improve and that he wants to help them take a step beyond last season. He added that, if fans and players pull together, big things can be achieved.
Already into the season with Girona, he is available to Corberán and believes he can contribute across several positions. He thinks his level could give the team a leap in quality.
He already knows Mestalla well, having made his Girona debut there, and described the prospect of playing as a home player as especially exciting.
With the presentation wrapped up, he is in optimal condition to make his debut in the next league fixture at Riazor against Deportivo de A Coruña. His arrival adds defensive security, cleaner build-up and thrust down a right flank that was short of options only five days ago.
