Klopp reveals reason behind Deniz Undav's Germany omission | OneFootball

VfB Stuttgart forward Deniz Undav was one of the bright spots of a disappointing World Cup for Germany, which ended with elimination against Paraguay in the round of 32.

However, the 30-year-old didn't make it into new coach Jürgen Klopp’s first selection for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games, and the former Liverpool manager explained why at a press conference on Thursday.

“I’ve spoken to Deniz Undav. Deniz has had some minor issues so far, but he also hasn’t really found his rhythm at the start of the season yet,” Klopp said.

“I wanted to go with four strikers and, for the time being, decided on the others.”

Klopp selected a total of 44 players for the upcoming four games and split them into two squads, with each squad assigned to two matches.

In terms of strikers, Younes Ebnoutalib and Kai Havertz were named in the first squad, while Jonathan Burkardt and Nick Woltemade were included in the second group.
