Nico Elvedi sets sights on Manchester United after Leeds move | OneFootball

Leeds United have completed the signing of Nico Elvedi on a three-year contract on Wednesday, paying an initial £6.8m within a €10 million (£8.5m) deal with Borussia Monchengladbach. The 29-year-old Switzerland international is viewed as comfortable across a back three.

“I’m very excited. I am very happy to be here, everything is done and I can’t wait to play for this club. I know Leeds have a big history, Manchester United is also a big rival so we will try to beat them this season,” he said, speaking to LUTV.

Elvedi spent 11 years at Monchengladbach and previously worked for a season under Daniel Farke. He becomes Leeds’ fourth signing of the summer, with three days until the new campaign starts. He also featured alongside Noah Okafor at this summer’s World Cup with Switzerland.

“It is such a big club with amazing fans and I also can’t wait to play in this stadium with the fans. Everybody told me it is a special moment to go through the tunnel and see the atmosphere.”
