Sunderland’s late-window picture is clearer, with a goalkeeper change confirmed and a winger pursuit hitting a snag.
According to Fichajes, Sunderland and Leeds United are among clubs said to be monitoring Real Madrid forward Endrick, now on loan at Lyon, though the report is viewed cautiously given a mooted £51million valuation.
Anthony Patterson has joined Millwall on loan after losing his starting spot earlier this season, and Sunderland have signed Melker Ellborg from Malmö FF for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance, on a deal until the summer of 2030. Ellborg’s arrival adds depth and competition in goal, and he is viewed as a longer-term addition rather than a short-term fix.
Lutsharel Geertruida now looks set to stay despite late links to Liverpool. There is no recall clause in his RB Leipzig loan, so any move would require Sunderland’s consent, and with little time left they have no desire to weaken the squad without a replacement.
Chelsea winger Tyrique George is instead heading for Everton, with a loan plus option to buy being finalised and the 19-year-old travelling to Merseyside for a medical.
Chelsea have been open to a move amid limited first-team minutes. George has six goals and six assists in 37 senior appearances, and Fulham had agreed a £22million deal last summer before switching targets.
With a new goalkeeper in, Geertruida staying and speculative links addressed, Sunderland are prioritising targeted additions over deadline-day disruption.
