The Premier League have confirmed their nominees for the Player of the Month award for August, with Arsenal’s Riccardo Calafiori featuring on a shortlist of eight players.
Calafiori joins Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai and Hugo Ekitike, Everton’s Jack Grealish, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Chelsea’s Joao Pedro, and Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo on the shortlist.
You can vote for your favourite here, with the vote closing at 12:00 BST on Monday, September 8th. The public votes will be combined with the votes of a panel of football experts, and the winner will be revealed on Friday, September 12th.

It’s not hard to see why Calafiori was nominated, given he provided as many goals and assists as most of the attackers on the list.
Only Jack Grealish (four assists) and Joao Pedro (two goals, two assists) could better Calafiori’s goal against Manchester United and two assists against Leeds United.
The Gunners also only conceded one goal in August to a long-range free-kick, so Calafiori’s exploits in forward areas didn’t detract from the team’s defensive stability.
In fact, Calafiori was one of the Arsenal players to come out of last Sunday’s game against Liverpool with the most credit, having effectively shut down Mohamed Salah.

Whether or not Calafiori wins the fan vote, he can be proud of the start he’s made to the 2025/26 campaign with Arsenal. The goal now is to stay fit over the international break away with Italy.
